West of Ajmer, Brahma Temple is located at Pushkar. Pushkar is a sacred place for Hindus. The lake at Pushkar is believed to have been created by Lord Brahma himself and has the same sanctity for' indus, as Manasarovar in Tibet. It is interesting to note that Pushkar is the only place in the world, where the temple of Lord Brahma exists. Although the present temple arrangement, which is mainly built of marble and stone stabs, dates to the 14th century, the temple is believed to be 2000 years old. With distinct red pinnacle and a hamsa bird motif, the temple sanctum sanctorum holds the central images of Brahma and second consort Gayatri.
